Gamify Learning: Kahoot in the Music Classroom!

Who Doesn't Love Kahoot?!? On a scale of 1 to "of course they do," how much do your students beg to play Kahoot? Students of all ages, but especially middle school, love to play Kahoot. Games in the music classroom? It's a given.

Kahoot is an awesome, and relatively easy way, to gamify learning for your students. My kids are obsessed with it. It instantly ups the engagement factor. Students of all levels can enjoy and be successful with a good Kahoot.

Why Kahoot? Not only does it bring engagement into your lesson, it's a quick way to assess how your students are doing on the topic of your choice. You can choose to coach them through the Kahoot or sit back and watch how to do and assess later. I also use Kahoot as a classroom management strategy in my music class. With one-to-one computers, everyone is playing together, but separate. Traditional games usually only involve a few students at a time. Not only is that not always the best strategy for max engagement and learning, it's opening you up to potential problems.
