Originally from Maryland, Anola Douglas is currently in her 17th year of music education. She received her Bachelor of Science in Music Education at Elon University where she studied piano. Ms. Douglas also has a Masters in Education Administration from Liberty University. She is currently the choir director at Metz Middle School in Manassas City. 

At Metz, Anola teaches the 7th and 8th grade Mixed and Treble Choirs. This year, the 7th grade Treble Chorus received a Superior rating at the District IX Choral Assessment. The 7th and 8th Mixed Performance Chorus received an Excellent. Both choirs received a Superior rating on the sight reading portion of their Assessment. 

 

In 2020, the choir program had students audition for and make both District 9 All-District Chorus and VA All-State Middle School Chorus. Prior to Metz, Anola worked at H.H. Poole Middle School in Stafford. During her 3-year tenure at Poole, her 6th, 7th and 8th grade choirs received Superior ratings at District Assessment every year. She also had students audition for and make VA All-State Middle School Chorus both years that Poole participated. In her last year, the H.H. Poole Music Department received the Virginia Music Educator's Blue Ribbon award. 

In addition to teaching, Anola loves to involve herself in the musical community to continue improving her own skills. She was the guest conductor for the Spotsylvania County Middle School All County Honors Chorus in 2019, Spotsylvania's pre-Assessment judge in 2020, a judge and clinician for the Charles County Public Schools Choral Assessment in March and the guest conductor for Prince William County Middle School All County Honors Chorus in April. This November, Anola will be the guest conductor for the St. Mary's County Middle All County Honors Chorus. Anola has also presented at the Virtual Virginia Blended Learning conference where she shared helpful instructional technology resources for music educators. Anola lives in Fredericksburg with her husband and two fur babies, Sayde and Coda.
